Los Angeles, California -- On July 10, 2025 George Retes was on his way to work when he encountered a protest against an ICE raid on his route. Stopped by the activity, Retes promptly identified himself and explained he was simply on his way to work when unprovoked, agents fired tear gas at the vehicle, smashed the driver window, sprayed him in the face with pepper spray, dragged him out of the vehicle, and placed him under arrest. Retes was transferred to a Los Angeles-area detention center and held for three days with no explanation and no ability to contact his family or an attorney.
