Veracity: FALSE

Reality: The Republican party currently controls the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives, which puts the onus on that party to decide whether or not the government remains running. Congress has the ability to make limitd changes to the federal budget via reconciliation which requires only a simple majority vote in each chamber. The Republicans are in charge of the government and any shutdown is the result of their own action or inaction.
